**Role Overview**:
We are seeking a Lead Engineer with a strong knowledge in mechanical engineering backed by process engineering experience to lead the design and development activities across engineering department and contribute to commissioning of our plants worldwide. You will play a key role in scaling up cutting-edge hydrometallurgical processes and building modular systems that are reshaping the global battery supply chain.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Mechanical Engineering**
- Lead the design activities through definition of the technical specification of process equipment, including tanks, pumps, agitators, gas scrubber, press filter and concerning instrumentation
- Drive EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) projects from FEED through commissioning.
- Analyse material selection (corrosion resistance, thermal compatibility) fit for process conditions
- Oversee mechanical layout, piping design, and 3D modelling
- Developing 3D models of the parts, systems when required in the project
- Work closely with vendors for equipment fabrication, QA/QC, and FAT/SAT protocols
- Validate that installed mechanical systems meet process performance requirements
- Support Troubleshooting
- Interface with process and automation teams to ensure correct implementation of control logic for mechanical systems
- Support commissioning with performance testing and troubleshooting in coordination with process engineers.
- Ensure safety considerations are implemented in mechanical layouts (e.g., relief valve locations, drainage paths, accessibility).
- Coordinate mechanical design of utility systems (e.g., steam, cooling water, compressed air) based on process needs and align utility capacity with process load estimates.

**Process Engineering background**
- Mass and energy balancing, chemical kinetics, and process simulations
- Developing and validating process models for scaling up the lab results into pilot and commercial-scale systems
- Designing and optimizing end-to-end process flows (PFDs, P&IDs) for different processes
- Review and interpret PFDs and P&IDs to ensure mechanical designs align with process requirements.
- Identify and resolve mechanical-process conflicts early in the design.
- Recognize how changes in process parameters impact safety and performance
- Provide process parameters input during selection
- Contribute to HAZOP/HAZID and other risk assessments from a mechanical perspective.

**Education**
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical/Process Engineering

**Experience**
- 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in industrial or chemical plant settings or similar industrial roles in chemical processing
- 3 years inclusive of managing or leading multidisciplinary teams, including process and electrical/automation disciplines preferred.

**Project & Leadership Skills**
- Experience managing engineering design reviews, vendor coordination, and contractor supervision
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, including technical reporting and presenting to stakeholders
- Able to manage priorities and interface across departments (Process, E&I, Procurement, Construction)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D and operation.
- Mentor junior engineers, manage timelines, budgets, and ensure regulatory compliance.

**Competency**
- Proficiency in piping system design: routing, material selection, flexibility and stress analysis
- Familiar with piping codes and standards: ASME B31.3, B31.1, API, etc.
- Familiar with quality management system requirements
- Proficient in 2D and 3D modelling (AutoCAD, Navisworks, Solid Works)
- Knowledge of heat exchangers, pumps, reactors, dryers, etc.
- Familiar with automation systems
- Understands electrical schematics and automation logic for mechanical systems
- Strong exposure to layout, installation, commissioning and start-up of mechanical systems
- Familiarity with global safety standards (ATEX, IECEx, OSHA)
