
Lead Buyer

**Job Summary**:
The Lead Buyer is responsible for managing and overseeing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services essential to the operations of the oil and gas industry. This role involves strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of resources that meet quality and safety standards. The Lead Buyer will work closely with various departments, including engineering, operations, and finance, to align procurement strategies with business objectives.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Strategic Sourcing**:Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service capabilities.
Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and supply chain risks.
- **Supplier Management**:Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable supply and to foster long-term partnerships.
Conduct regular supplier evaluations and audits to assess performance and compliance with contractual obligations.
Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply.
- **Contract Negotiation**:Lead the negotiation of contracts and purchase agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions.
Ensure all contracts comply with legal requirements and company policies.
Manage the lifecycle of contracts, including renewals and amendments.
- **Procurement Execution**:Coordinate with internal stakeholders to understand material and service requirements.
Issue purchase orders and track the delivery of goods and services to ensure they meet project timelines.
Monitor inventory levels and manage stock replenishment to avoid shortages or overstock situations.
- **Cost Management**:Analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
Develop and manage procurement budgets and report on financial performance.
Ensure all purchases are made within budgetary constraints and contribute to overall profitability.
- **Compliance and Risk Management**:Ensure all procurement activities comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Identify and mitigate risks associated with the supply chain, including geopolitical, financial, and environmental risks.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of all procurement activities for audit and compliance purposes.
- **Team Leadership**:Provide guidance and mentorship to junior buyers and procurement staff.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the procurement team.
Conduct performance reviews and support the professional development of team members.
**Qualifications**:
- **Education**:Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
Professional certification in procurement (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is highly desirable.
