As a Database Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing and managing our database infrastructure. Your expertise will guide the architectural design of distributed database systems, ensuring they meet performance, availability, and reliability requirements.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead the architecture and implementation of **MariaDB**, **MySQL InnoDB Cluster**, and **Galera Cluster**for high-availability and fault-tolerant systems.
- Design and deploy complex, multi-node database clusters with **Galera**and **MySQL InnoDB Cluster**, ensuring mínimal downtime and seamless failover.
- Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and troubleshooting slow query performance in clustered environments.
- Ensure database reliability through implementing backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and data replication setups.
- Create and enforce best practices for database architecture, including capacity planning, security, and monitoring.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues in a production environment to minimize downtime and ensure data integrity.
- Stay current with new technologies and innovations in the database space, recommending and implementing improvements.
- Work with DevOps teams to integrate database changes into continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
**Requirements**:
- Extensive experience with **MariaDB**, **MySQL InnoDB Cluster**, and **Galera Cluster**in a production environment.
- In-depth understanding of high-availability and disaster recovery concepts and practices using **Galera**and **InnoDB Cluster**.
- Expertise in designing and deploying **MariaDB**and **MySQL**database clusters, focusing on performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Strong experience in query optimization, indexing, replication, and performance tuning in clustered MySQL/MariaDB environments.
- Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools like Ansible, Chef, or Terraform.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) in the context of databases.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to create and enforce database policies, standards, and best practices.
**Desired Skills (Nice to Have)**:
- Experience with other distributed database technologies (e.g., ElasticSearch, Cassandra).
- Knowledge of DevOps tools and practices related to database management (CI/CD pipelines, monitoring).
- Experience with security best practices for databases (e.g., encryption, access control).
- Familiarity with database monitoring and alerting tools like Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM), Zabbix, or Prometheus.
