Vice President, Public Policy and External

The vice president of public policy and external affairs, Asia is an exciting new role that will establish and lead relationships with regulators, policymakers, and key stakeholders in Asia Pacific to advance Sony Pictures Entertainment’s (SPE) government relations strategy and foster a favorable regulatory environment.

In this position you will lead advocacy for the corporation in the region and develop strategies, priorities and programs to advance the company’s public policy and public impact work. You will have demonstrated passion for operating at the intersection of policy, politics, government and business throughout their career.

This role reports to the Executive Vice President of Global Public Policy and can be based at a suitable company location in the region (e.g. Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong).

**Key Responsibilities Include**:

- Lead relationships with industry associations, governments, SPE business leaders for the Asia Pacific region
- Collaborate with colleagues across regional and global functions to achieve positive engagements and outcomes in governmental and policy matters.
- Contribute to company and industry global policy formation.
- Formulate advocacy positions and priorities internally and with 3rd parties including industry associations, consultants, civil society, etc.
- Build relationships with government officials and policymakers
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments
- Coordinate with other stakeholders to build coalitions and amplify the company's message representing the Company at hearings, meetings, and other events with government officials and policymakers
- Work with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging
- Brief and collaborate with business leaders to understand and address risks and implications of policy and geopolitical developments on business operations and strategic plans
- Research and analyze data to inform policy decisions and monitors policy implementation and evaluates outcomes
- Collaborate with stakeholders and other organizations to develop policy
- Operates within assigned budget to prioritize efforts and allocate resources to attain policy and relationship objectives
- Contribute to policy formulation and legislative drafting, liaising and leading relationships and engagements with regulators, government and industry bodies on behalf of the Company
- Advise and consult with the Company’s business, legal and operational teams on regulatory and policy developments
- Bring an understanding of the Asia-Pacific policy and political landscape to business, legal and operational teams in region, as well as to Global and other regional teams
- Assess emerging policy and political developments that may impact the business and engages relevant stakeholders to address

**Qualifications & Experience Required**:
To be successful in this role you will be a proven leader in government relations and public policy with strong regional relationships, industry knowledge and a track record of successful outcomes for the entities they have represented.

You should also possess the following:

- Typically 10+ of relevant global advocacy and policy experience
- Entertainment/media industry policy and advocacy experience or a similarly regulated telecommunication industry experience
- Ability to cogently advocate for SPE before governmental officials and bodies
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Creative problem-solving strategies and acumen
- Ability to work within a fast-paced entertainment company environment
- Ability to balance demands and prioritizeAbility to collaborate with internal and external colleagues
