**Job Description**:
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) Clinical implementation projects (CIPs)
Be instrumental in project management for the CIPs to meet the timeline and deliverables
Work closely with the lab team to validate the performance of a laboratory designed assay on the microarray platform
Coordinate the testing workflow from specimen receipt to reporting
Oversee routine laboratory operation of equipment pertaining to the CIPs, including charting of work performed, inventory and ordering of reagents and test kits, and preventive maintenance of equipment
Contribute to project documentation, including writing work plans, work instructions (WIs) and technical report
Perform experiments pertaining to the CIPs and analyze the data with mínimal supervision from the lab director
Work with the team to develop the polygenic risk score pipeline
Support the lab’s research efforts and expand the use of microarray for population genomics
Prepare research presentations and manuscripts
(ii) Routine lab operation and quality
Follow processes that meet the College of American Pathologists (CAP) requirements
Ensure all documentation is in compliance with CAP requirements. Responsible for equipment maintenance and WIs
Develop tools and best practices for clinical testing and implementation
Ensure all changes to the scope, test kits, methodology of the assays are documented and approved by the lab director
Keep accurate records of work undertaken
(iii) Education
Constant upgrading of knowledge by reading and discussing scientific literature regarding new diagnostic tests and investigation strategies in journal clubs, seminars and presentations to diverse audiences
Responsible for students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, when they are attached to the laboratory
Train and supervise laboratory personnel or attachment students in experimental techniques
Support educational program, workshop or seminar of the service
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
PhD in molecular biology, genetics or related disciplines
TRAINING/SKILLS REQUIREMENT
Strong technical background in genomics. Good understanding of pharmacogenetics and polygenic risk is a plus
Must have hands on experience with standard molecular biology techniques including DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, sequencing and genotyping
Prior experience with microarray is highly desirable
At least 2 years of experience in management of projects
Analyze data independently and contribute to team science
Excellent organizational and data management skills
Good writing and presentation skills
Able to work in a team environment
A publication track record
EXPERIENCE
Preferably with 2 years prior research lab experience with a strong background in genomics and molecular biology. Prior experience with microarray analysis is a plus
