LAI Games is an arcade experience company that connects people with games. We’re building an arcade experience ecosystem that consists of physical arcade games, consumer and location-based VR games and experiences, and other exciting arcade-based titles that connect, engage, and delight players across physical and virtual worlds.
As Studio Technical Director at LAI Games, to drive a growing engineering team working on multiple titles. You are responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of development at the studio and mentoring and directing your technical leaders.
Responsible for supporting your teams and improving their technical and interpersonal skills, you have their well-being at heart, and you actively participate in their development within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be a strategic leader, proactive in driving improvement within Software Engineering teams and across the company, shaping Engineering teams with our company’s business objectives in mind
- Collaborate with the Head of Product and team leaders to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on technology and engineering capabilities
- Demonstrate exemplary positive leadership and act as spokesperson for the studio’s values, and lead the team through management and mentorship, via both technical and non-technical leadership
- Establish the vision for how software will be used in the company, defining tools and standards, and lead by example through direct project contribution and seeking opportunities to contribute
- Interpret product vision and business objectives into development processes, goals and tasks, and provide clear direction to our Software Engineering teams
- Develop and implement standards that drive technical excellence, including technical resources, documentation, testing, training, analytics, service standards and system design
- Drive productive, sustainable growth of our Software Engineering teams, with a focus on attracting and nurturing top talent, actively identifying, recruiting, and developing successful managers, ensuring domain knowledge is shared, and building redundancy in key roles
- Own and develop the technical strategy and roadmap, ensuring we meet our business goals including product delivery, innovation and technical excellence.
- Manage and coordinate our production and development environments, including monitoring, logging, disaster recovery, availability and stability
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of at least 10 years in Software Engineering with a minimum of 3+ years in a comparable leadership position
- Familiarity with all technical aspects of game development including client, server and backend tech stacks.
- Ability to interpret technology and market trends as a foundation for roadmaps
- Experience in building and leading technical and non-technical staff driving their success
- Technical expertise in web systems architecture or game engineering, design, and development
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and a strong sense of tact in all interactions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
