**Position Summary**
**Key Responsibilities**
- Establish an independent, externally funded research program in infectious diseases with an emphasis on translational approaches.
- Conduct cutting-edge research that contributes to IDTRP’s goals, including vaccine development, antimicrobial resistance, pathogen-host interactions, and public health interventions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including clinicians, scientists, and other stakeholders to drive impactful research.
- Mentor and supervise undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in areas related to microbiology or immunology, anchored under the Department of Microbiology & Immunology.
- Publish high-quality, peer-reviewed research in leading journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
- Actively participate in IDTRP’s events, workshops, and outreach activities.
**Qualifications**
**Essential**:
- PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in microbiology, immunology, epidemiology, or a related field.
- Proven track record of research excellence as evidenced by first author original high impact publications.
- Strong potential to secure competitive external funding.
- Expertise in translational research methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
**Desirable**:
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the graduate level.
- Experience in mentoring and supervising research trainees.
- Research experience in tropical infectious diseases or diseases of global health significance.
- Familiarity with regulatory and ethical requirements for translational research.
