Blackstone Alternative Asset Management (BAAM®) manages approximately $81 billion across a diversified set of businesses, including a customized portfolio solutions business, a special situations platform, a business that purchases GP stakes in alternative asset managers, an open-ended mutual fund platform, and an emerging manager seeding business. **Job Title: Asia Team, Analyst or Associate**

BAAM’s largest line of business makes LP investments in hedge funds. These investments span the gamut of asset classes and hedge fund strategies. The Asia team sources, underwrites, monitors and makes allocation decisions for Asia fund investments. This role offers the opportunity to analyze, evaluate, and engage with hedge fund managers based in Asia, as well as interface with colleagues across the globe. Additionally, the role includes working with hedge fund managers in the region to source, diligence and underwrite co-investment opportunities, working with BAAM’s other investment teams where appropriate.

**Responsibilities**:
Primary responsibilities will include:

- Working with the team to source and perform due diligence on prospective hedge fund investments in Asia. This will include meetings with the hedge fund managers and their teams, reference checks, strategy research and quantitative track record analysis
- Monitoring of existing hedge fund relationships, which include regular conversations with different levels of contacts at the firm, tracking key positions, themes and exposures in the portfolio, assessing the impact of any organizational changes, and continuously challenging the validity of BAAM’s investment thesis.
- Working with the team to source, diligence and underwrite co-investment opportunities, leveraging Blackstone’s various groups where appropriate
- Thinking creatively about ways to improve the team’s existing due diligence process, helping ensure quality, consistency and thoroughness in their approach.

**Qualifications**:

- 1-5 years of relevant work experience ideally in investment research, asset management or at an investment bank
- Superior communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to write effectively
- A desire to work in a team environment
- Strong financial modeling skills and the ability to deconstruct a hedge fund’s historic returns
- A passion for the markets and an understanding of different asset classes
- An ability to manage ad hoc projects independently and to completion
- Fluent Chinese language skills (written and verbal Mandarin) would be highly advantageous
