We are searching for two highly driven early-career research scientists to embark on multi-disciplinary use-inspired basic research in the field of catalysis, polymer science and organic chemistry. The new hires will embark on cutting edge research in partnership with collaborators from institute of higher learning and other research institutes. The job scope and expectations include, but not limited to, the following:
- Design of functional polymers, organic functional molecules and catalysts for intended scope of study, and perform organic synthesis, purification, and characterization of intermediates, monomers, and polymers.
- Perform catalyst screening for intended chemical reactions and benchmark against existing known catalysts.
- Prepare scientific publications, reports, intellectual property submissions, presentation content, etc., to publish, present, and communicate research findings
- Actively engage and communicate with stakeholders, i.e., team members, supervisor, collaborators, management, etc., on research progress updates and outcomes, and/or administrative, technical, and logístical support.
- Contribute actively to laboratory safety, house-keeping and other operational tasks and duties (e.g., purchase and procurement, equipment maintenance, etc.)
- Mentor/co-supervise students and interns
- Other ad-hoc supportive roles and duties for the research group, department, and division
**Job Requirements**:
- PhD degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or any relevant disciplines, with in-depth knowledge and experience in organic chemistry and synthesis, catalysis, and/or polymer chemistry
- Less than 3 years of post-doctoral experience
- A team player, and possess good communication skills (oratorical and writing)
- Meticulous, organized, resourceful, analytical, and highly motivated
- Able to manage and work independently under pressure
