**Job Description** What a Counsel (Visa Direct) Asia Pacific in Legal does at Visa**:
The position is for a highly motivated and skilled attorney to join Visa's growing legal team. You will be a key commercial and regulatory legal lead supporting the Visa business teams as they expand and scale Visa Direct and its suite of product offerings to achieve its “network of networks” vision.

You will report to the Vice President Legal (Asia Pacific) and will be expected to work closely and in collaboration with Visa lawyers across geographies and functional support areas, including the Visa lawyers in the US headquarters and other international offices.

In this role, you are expected to:
Be the lead counsel and “go to” lawyer for the Visa Direct business (and related products as well as services) for the Asia Pacific region
- Lead and manage (working with country lawyers as necessary) regulatory consultations as well as compliance across the Asia Pacific region as applicable to existing or new Visa products or functions (in addition to Visa Direct), particularly in relation to new payment flows or payments related commercial solutions and products
- Assist with Visa’s launch or implementation of other value-added services that may be complementary to Visa Direct and other Visa products
- Be the hub advisor, interfacing between global and regional stakeholders in regional adaptations as well as localisations of Visa Direct and other global products, helping to ensure global consistency and coordination
- Draft, negotiate and drive to completion complex commercial, technology, or strategic partnership agreements in support of business objectives for Visa Direct and other Visa products.
- Provide advice and guidance to business and product teams regarding deal structures and key risks and proactively identify and resolve legal issues/risks.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

**Qualifications** What you will need**:

- Have a minimum 8-10 years in payments services or correspondent banking, commercial or technology transactions experience, which must include regulatory experience
- Legal degree from an accredited law school
- Be able to work independently and interface with executive level stakeholders with little or no supervision, but also be a good team player
- Be a practical and proactive problem-solver, must have a strong business acumen and be confident, mature and calm under fire
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with multiple stakeholders including senior executives.
- Demonstrate an ability to manage and drive complex commercial and technology transactions, including international and regional deals.
- Have a good understanding and knowledge of payments regulation and laws in multiple jurisdictions in Asia.
- Have excellent legal analytical skills with the ability to integrate legal advice and business knowledge, while providing balanced advice regarding risks and benefits.
- Be admitted to practice in a Commonwealth jurisdiction is preferred.
