**Freelance Interior Designer - Job Scope & Description**

A **freelance interior designer** is responsible for planning, conceptualising, and executing interior design projects for residential, commercial, retail, or hospitality spaces.

1. **Client Consultation & Briefing**
- Meet with clients (homeowners, business owners, property developers, etc.) to understand their requirements, budget, and lifestyle preferences.
- Discuss project timelines, scope, and design expectations.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and gather measurements and spatial data.

2. **Concept Development**
- Develop mood boards, sketches, and conceptual layouts.
- Recommend design themes, color palettes, materials, and furniture styles suitable for the Singaporean context (e.g. space-saving designs for HDBs, tropical climate considerations).
- Present design concepts to clients for feedback and approval.

3. **Space Planning & Design**
- Prepare scaled floor plans and 3D visualisations using software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or 3ds Max.
- Optimize spatial layouts for functionality, safety, and aesthetic appeal.
- Ensure designs comply with local building codes and HDB/URA/BCA renovation guidelines.

4. **Material & Furniture Selection**
- Source and recommend suitable finishes, materials, fixtures, lighting, and furnishings.
- Work with local and international suppliers to acquire samples and quotations.
- Stay up to date with trends and products available in interior design market.

5. **Budgeting & Cost Management**
- Prepare itemized cost estimates and manage the project within budget.
- Advise clients on areas to save or splurge, based on priorities.
- Handle cost negotiation with contractors and vendors.

6. **Project Management & Coordination**
- Manage timelines and deliverables for the project.
- Coordinate with contractors, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, and other specialists.
- Conduct regular site visits to supervise progress and ensure quality control.
- Resolve on-site issues and ensure smooth execution of the design.

7. **Regulatory Compliance**
- Ensure that renovation works comply with relevant Singaporean regulations (e.g. HDB renovation permits, BCA submissions for structural changes).
- Liaise with property management offices for approvals (especially in condominiums and commercial buildings).

8. **Styling & Handover**
- Oversee final styling of the space with décor, soft furnishings, and accessories.
- Conduct final quality checks and walkthroughs with the client.
- Ensure client satisfaction before final project handover.

9. **Marketing & Business Development**
- Build a personal brand and maintain a strong portfolio (online and offline).
- Network with contractors, property agents, and other designers to generate leads.
- Handle inquiries, quotations, and contracts independently.

10. **Administration & Documentation**
- Draft proposals, invoices, and contracts.
- Track project costs, payments, and timelines.
- Maintain client records and design documentation for future reference or marketing.

**Job Type**: Freelance

Pay: $6,000.00 - $10,000.00 per month
