**Job description**:
1. Contribute to high-quality research and development work in TCOMS laboratory through:
a. design of scaled physical test models, such as maritime vessels, offshore rigs, marine renewable platforms and aquaculture systems for testing in TCOMS Ocean Basin.
b. generation of detailed design, production, assembly and as-built drawings of test models.
c. leading a team of engineers and technicians on model fabrication and modification, calibration, instrumentation and experimental setup.
d. design of embedded sensors to enhance the measurement of models’ behaviour and response.
e. document design processes, methodologies and results.
f. engagement with external vendors for component sourcing and additional modification work that are beyond the present capabilities of TCOMS laboratory.
2. Support operations in the Ocean Basin facility, including lifting, forklift and scissor lift operations, and work-at-height operations (formal training will be provided).
3. Collaborate with internal teams, affiliated research institutes and other relevant stakeholders in proposal preparation and submission.
4. Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
**Requirements**:
**Qualification & Field of Study**:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Marine Engineering or equivalent.
**Work Experience**:
1. 6-years of relevant work experience, preferably as a mechanical design engineer.
2. Proficient with 3D modelling tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCad.
3. Experience in the operation of 3D printers, lathe machine, milling machine and CNC will be an advantage.
**Other Requirements**:
1. Good interpersonal and communications skills.
2. Good organization and interface management skills.
3. Ability to adapt and work effectively as team player.
4. Resourceful and self-driven with a high degree of professional integrity.
