Colas Rail Egypt is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support to its operational departments in the railway sector, including the construction and maintenance of railroad lines and metro systems. The role involves analyzing legal documentation for public tenders, drafting and negotiating contracts, and offering day-to-day legal advice on various aspects of Egyptian law. The Legal Counsel will also support HR on labor issues, coordinate compliance programs, and manage litigation strategies in collaboration with local and international teams. This position requires close integration with the local legal team under the supervision of the Country Director, while reporting to the International Legal Manager and the Legal Department in Paris, ensuring adherence to the group's ethical standards and risk management principles.
Responsibilities- Analyzing legal documentation for public tenders to identify main legal risks and opportunities.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts related to project execution (such as supply agreements, subcontracts, services provider agreements) with the commercial, technical and financial teams.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts with partners (such as consortium agreements, joint ventures).
- Providing legal advice to operations during the execution of contracts in coordination with the Contract Manager and reviewing or drafting the legal aspects of claims.
- Providing day-to-day comprehensive legal advice to the operations team and the Country Director, covering various aspects of Egyptian law.
- Supporting HR on labor and employment legal matters and coordinating the implementation of the group's compliance program (the Compliance Officer is the Legal Director of Colas Rail).
- Developing litigation strategies in coordination with Contract Management teams and the Legal Department in Paris; coordinating with external counsels as needed.
- Managing formalities for the local entity in coordination with the corporate team based in France, ensuring compliance with the group's ethics and risk principles.
Education: Bachelor of Law Degree (Master degree is a plus)
Experience: Between 6–8 years (4 or 6 years' experience in the construction or industrial sector is a plus)
Language requirements: Arabic and English are a must; French is a plus.

Colas Rail Egypt branch started its activities in 1980 with the construction project of line 1. Colas Rail has more than 40 years of experience in Egypt with solid references in the Energy and Electromechanical activities. It is involved in all stages of the project from Engineering to Maintenance, including procurement, construction, testing and commissioning and it is currently working on the Cairo Line 4 and the Abu Qir metro line in Alexandria.
