A world-class organization is seeking a skilled professional to join its trading division. As a leading risk management expert, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining systems that support global trading activities.

About the Opportunity

The trading division aims to enhance commercial abilities through an agile structure, capturing additional value from optionality in physical assets and contract portfolios with effective market risk management. Key objectives include:

  • Optimizing the value of physical flows by strategically placing products
  • Capturing additional margin from the value chain through optimized portfolio management
  • Collaborating with assets to determine optimal products and volume to produce, sell, and deliver

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of the team, you will report to the Senior Manager Market Risk and be entrusted with the following responsibilities:

  • Developing and validating pricing and risk models for bespoke market risk systems, including quantitative and qualitative aspects of market risk management, performance validation, and stress testing
  • Validating existing pricing and risk models for physical base metals, freight, iron ore, and associated derivatives
  • Designing and generating daily reporting on market risk limits utilisation and understanding key risk drivers
  • Preparing ad-hoc trading initiatives analysis in terms of valuation, exposure, and associated market risks
  • Performing periodic risk reporting for stakeholders

About You

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • A Master's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., finance, financial engineering, maths, statistics)
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in a market risk management environment with strong technical skills and/or model developer capacity
  • Proficiency in Python and working with databases like SQL Server
  • Knowledge of Data Science techniques as a plus
  • A commodities background as an advantage, but not essential
  • Good communication skills, ability to articulate technical concepts for a general audience, and drive discussions
