(What the role is)

ENGINEER, VEHICLE SAFETY CONTROL

(What you will be working on)

You will be part of the team administering the mandatory vehicle inspection regime, vehicle safety recall, and vehicle safety control systems on disposal of de-registered vehicles.

Your role includes:

  • Regulating LTA-authorised vehicle inspection centres (VICOM, STA, JIC) to ensure that they comply with regulatory requirements and performance standards in conducting mandatory vehicle inspections

  • Monitoring of vehicle safety recalls (electronic vehicle recall system) to ensure that motor dealers/ importers follow up with the recall notifications for affected vehicles registered in Singapore

  • Overseeing LTA-appointed vehicle scrapping centres to ensure that they comply with stipulated requirements and performance standards in scrapping de-registered vehicles for proper disposal

  • Attending to written, telephone or walk-in feedback on vehicle-related matters from members of public

You will also be involved in supporting the development and implementation of new vehicle control systems and reviewing existing control systems to enhance the control on vehicle safety and roadworthiness.

(What we are looking for)

  • Knowledge in Mechanical / Automotive/ Mechatronics/ Electronics Engineering

  • Relevant experience in performing regulatory functions is an advantage

  • Good knowledge of vehicle technology and automotive engineering

  • Able to multi-task in a dynamic environment

  • Service-oriented, and possess good communication, writing, presentation and interpersonal skills
