Singapore beBeeScientist Full time

Research Scientist Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and self-driven researcher to join our team at the Mechanobiology Institute, National University of Singapore.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic laboratory environment to investigate how collective cell behaviors emerge and connect to biological functions in development and reproduction. The project focuses on cellular mechano-chemical coupling in mammalian tissues and aims to uncover the design principles of multicellular dynamical systems.

In particular, we are interested in interdisciplinary approaches to study the interplay between sperm and somatic cells in the male reproductive tract. Despite their physiological importance, the origins and roles of sperm cell dynamics in reproductive tracts remain poorly understood.

To address this, we employ intravital microscopy of murine reproductive tissues, enabling direct observation of cellular and molecular activities in vivo. Specifically, we aim to elucidate the fundamental mechanisms by which collective sperm dynamics arise and contribute to reproductive function and aging, combining live-cell imaging, microfluidic devices, and mathematical modeling.

Requirements:

  • PhD in the life sciences or related fields
  • Fundamental knowledge and skills in molecular biology, cell and tissue culture, microscopy, and mouse handling
  • Experience in omics analysis, and/or bioinformatics is advantageous but not required
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as a team player

Benefits:

The institute operates on a fully integrated open-lab philosophy, with an extensive infrastructure supported by core facilities dedicated to technology such as state-of-the-art light microscopy, nano- and micro-fabrication, and computing.

Additional Information:

The above eligibility criteria are not exhaustive. Additional selection criteria may apply in accordance with MBI's prevailing recruitment policies. We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
