A Tenure-Track Associate/Assistant Professor of Health Informatics and Chronic Disease Epidemiology at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) is expected to contribute to the development of research and teaching at the School. He/She is expected to undertake high quality internationally leading research in the area of chronic disease epidemiology and health informatics within the Population and Global Health Research Programme, in line with the overarching research strategy of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, in addition to any other duties as assigned by the Vice Dean, Research and Dean.
The appointee will be expected to develop and pursue research focused on the investigation of the determinants of chronic diseases in the Singapore population, leveraging the SG100K, a landmark longitudinal population cohort study of 100,000 Singaporeans from diverse ethnic backgrounds. The SG100K program is spearheaded by Prof. John Chambers, the Programme Director of the Population and Global Health Research Programme at LKCMedicine. With comprehensive behavioural, phenotypic, multi-omics data, electronic health record linkage, and prospective outcomes, the SG100K study represents a unique and state-of-the-art platform for researchers to understand the etiology and pathogenesis of diverse disease outcomes in Asia, and to generate insights that have the potential to improve health outcomes for Asian populations globally. The appointee will be expected to collaborate with the wider SG100K research ecosystem. This includes developing effective collaborations with the academic and industry partners involved in SG100K, and helping to build the SG100K cohort study and its linkages to medical records, in a manner that advance the research of the appointee, as well as the utility of the cohort study to the wider scientific community.
