Job Description:

This role entails driving and overseeing the Keppel submarine cable infrastructure projects. Key responsibilities include collaborating with Joint build partners, customers, and internal business/commercial teams to plan new subsea cable projects via secure, diverse, and practical routes meeting stakeholder needs and customer demand.

The ideal candidate will evaluate industry trends, proven state-of-the-art technology, cost optimization, future-proofing, and optimum fiber pair count to convert business requirements into detailed engineering specifications.

Responsibilities also include evaluating the optimum cable route through desktop studies, engaging vendors, and forming various metrics for evaluation. The selected vendor will be adjudicated based on their bid evaluation.

In addition, the successful candidate will develop and finalize supply contracts with submarine cable vendors in close coordination with Joint build partners, internal legal teams, and stakeholders.

They will work closely with submarine cable vendors and partners to drive the implementation of submarine cable systems, including design, manufacturing, and installation activities.

Collaboration with landing service providers, vendors, partners, and internal teams is also essential to ensure that purchasers' deliverable items are ready on or before target timelines.

Key responsibilities also include ensuring customers obtain relevant statutory permits in their respective countries and conducting periodic review meetings with partners/customers/stakeholders and various vendors/providers to discuss performance, issues, and related action items.

Additionally, travel may be required within the region or other regions to assist at various sites. The ideal candidate must possess good communication skills and be able to work independently with minimal supervision in a non-structured environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, or Telecommunication Engineering)
  • At least 7 to 10 years of experience in submarine cable operations or submarine cable projects

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in driving submarine cable projects, especially in conceptualization, design, vendor selection, contract formation, and project implementation stages
  • Experience in working with submarine cable equipment like PFE, monitoring equipment, OADM, SLTE, OTDR/COTDR, Spectrum analyzer, etc.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to set priorities, recognize basic causes, and recommend problem solutions that meet practical business needs
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) and balanced interpersonal style with team player abilities
  • Self-starter with ability to take initiative and work under severe time pressure
