The role of a medical imaging professional involves conducting diagnostic examinations, such as X-rays or CT scans. Their primary responsibility is to ensure patient safety and accuracy in image capture, while adhering to radiation protection protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing imaging services to patients as required by referring physicians or statutory regulations, and adhering to acceptable standards.
- Maintaining familiarity with and correct handling of imaging equipment to prevent misuse.
- Conducting quality assurance tests before equipment use on patients.
- Operating X-ray or imaging equipment to capture diagnostic images.
- Ensuring accurate patient positioning and imaging protocols.
- Following radiation safety guidelines to protect patients and staff.
- Maintaining imaging equipment, including calibration, servicing and reporting malfunctions.
- Collaborating with physicians for accurate diagnosis and reporting.
Requirements:
- Holding a diploma or degree in Diagnostic Radiography from a recognized institution.
- Registration with AHPC (Allied Health Professions Council), Singapore.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in a clinical imaging setting.
- Knowledge of X-ray safety and radiation protection practices.
- Strong technical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to conduct most x-ray tests.
