About the Role
We are seeking a versatile
Application Support Analyst (Java/Cobol/SQL)
to join our team. This role bridges
business analysis and technical support , ensuring that enterprise applications run smoothly while continuously improving system functionality. You will play a key part in translating business needs into technical solutions, supporting post-implementation operations, and enhancing system performance through analysis, troubleshooting, and collaboration with both technical and business stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
Functional Support
Engage with business users to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Analyze, design, and deliver enhancements to existing functionalities and new features.
Perform data mining and validation testing to ensure system enhancements meet business needs.
Collaborate with project leads, developers, and end-users to improve processes and application usability.
Technical Support
Provide post-implementation support for Java and Cobol-based applications, addressing incidents and technical issues in a timely manner.
Write, refine, and optimize
SQL queries
for reporting, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
Support system performance improvements and assist client project leads with technical challenges.
Problem Solving
Investigate and resolve production issues related to Java/Cobol applications and SQL databases.
Conduct root-cause analysis, recommend corrective actions, and implement fixes or workarounds.
Continuously identify areas for improvement to enhance operational efficiency.
Collaboration & Teamwork
Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication.
Support change requests, system enhancements, and process automation initiatives.
Contribute to knowledge sharing, documentation, and cross-team collaboration.
Skills and Requirements
Strong knowledge of
Java
and
Cobol Mainframe programming .
Proficiency in
SQL databases
and query writing.
Demonstrated ability to conduct business analysis and translate needs into technical solutions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with eagerness to learn and grow.
Optional (Good-to-Have) Skills
Familiarity with
Enterprise Java frameworks
(Spring, Hibernate, JPA).
Experience in
front-end UI development
(React, TypeScript).
Proficiency in
Microsoft Excel VBA and Excel Macros .
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
3–4 years of experience in
Java, Cobol, and SQL
development/support.
3+ years’ experience in
Implementation (SDLC) and Change Request management .
2+ years’ experience in
Operational/BAU support .
Prior experience in
technical support or application support roles
is an advantage.
