Principal Analyst, HR (People Science and Aviation Psychology)
– Scoot
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Organizational Psychologist to join our People Science and Organisational Effectiveness Team at Scoot. This role aims to optimize the performance and well-being of pilots while driving talent assessment and management strategies. The Principal Analyst will transform data and analysis into actionable insights to inform the strategic direction of our people strategy, combining expertise in performance coaching, mental health, and talent management to support the safety, success, and engagement of our aviation operations.
Responsibilities
Talent Assessment & Selection: increase validity, reliability, and relevance of psychometric tools; review and streamline the selection process for optimum hiring efficiency and candidate experience; provide recommendations and support to reduce hiring errors and attrition.
Talent Management & Competency Framework: gather and analyse talent-related data to derive insights on programme effectiveness; create dashboards/visualisations for stakeholders; partner with business leaders, HRBP, and People Science team to support long-term talent strategy; build, maintain, and govern Scoot\'s competency framework based on future workforce needs.
Employee Engagement & Responding: develop a continuous feedback strategy and collect insights to drive actions; support surveys and focus groups to assess sentiment; analyse data to identify trends and areas for improvement; translate data into insights for stakeholders on employee experience and engagement methodologies.
Performance Coaching & Mental Well-being: conduct individual and group coaching for pilots with performance issues; analyse performance data to identify obstacles; develop intervention plans to improve performance and regulatory compliance; provide training on fatigue, stress, alcohol management, and decision-making; drive programs to promote well-being and resilience (e.g., peer supporter groups).
Critical Stress Incident Management (CISM): establish and maintain a CISM program for pilots; provide immediate and ongoing psychological support after incidents; facilitate debriefings and peer support; track data to improve program effectiveness.
Additional Responsibilities: support pilot recruitment, selection, and promotion using psychometrics; stay updated on aviation psychology and human performance research; contribute to company-wide safety and well-being initiatives; participate in investigations and provide psychological support as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor\'s degree in Psychology (Honours) with preference for 8+ years in I/O psychology including psychological practice and/or counselling.
Strong expertise in performance counselling, human factors analysis, and program development, preferably in aviation.
Experience designing and conducting surveys and focus groups with data analysis and reporting skills.
Preferred: CISM certification or equivalent crisis intervention training; training in psychometrics and/or Hogan certification.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills; proficient in programme development, data analysis, and reporting.
Commitment to promoting a positive and supportive work environment for pilots.
4–5 years in industrial-organizational psychology, organisation development, and/or employee engagement survey design.
Strong understanding of psychometric concepts and experience deriving insights from large datasets.
Strong stakeholder management, change management, communication, and influencing skills; team player with initiative and the ability to work with ambiguity; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
