Job Title: Assistant Restaurant Chef

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Restaurant Chef to join our team.

You will be working closely with the Sous Chefs to maintain the highest standards of quality and presentation.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a high-volume kitchen, managing staff, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and inventory management.
  • Work closely with the Sous Chefs to ensure that all dishes meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Train and develop new staff members, providing guidance on kitchen procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory, ordering supplies, and controlling costs.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Monitor and improve kitchen efficiency, identifying areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
  • Develop and implement new menu items, ensuring that they meet customer expectations and preferences.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Manage staff schedules, ensuring that adequate coverage is provided during peak periods.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, providing feedback and coaching to staff members.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Assistant Restaurant Chef or equivalent role.
  • Degree in Culinary Arts or related field.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure, meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to train and develop staff members.
  • Knowledge of food safety and handling procedures.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and inventory management systems.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.
