Job Summary:
The role of the Assistant Teacher is to provide support to the main class teacher in managing a classroom of children.
Assist the main class teacher in planning and implementing programs for the class, ensuring they are aligned with centre policies and guidelines.
Prepare and implement programs for children, incorporating educational development and learning strategies.
Work collaboratively with the main class teacher to manage challenging children using appropriate behavioural strategies.
Supervise mealtime behaviour and play times, promoting a positive and engaging environment.
Support children with toileting needs and contribute to case conferences or discussion points.
Provide input on children's progress and assist with planning, sharing ideas with the team.
Develop and maintain records of children's development, evaluating their progress and making recommendations for improvement.
Administer basic first aid as necessary and maintain teaching resources, preparing art and craft materials.
Employ positive discipline techniques at all times, promoting a respectful and inclusive environment.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A Certificate/Fundamental in Early Childhood Care & Education or Special Needs Education, although not essential it is an advantage.
Be creative and inspiring, with a loving energy that resonates with children.
Demonstrate excellent communication and classroom management skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues.
Familiarity with working curriculum documents, handbooks, and policy manuals, with knowledge of educational development.
Possess a passion for working with children with special needs, with a commitment to providing high-quality care and education.
