The Area Director of Engineering is responsible for the strategic leadership, oversight, and performance of engineering and maintenance operations across multiple hotel properties within the assigned region. This role ensures engineering excellence, regulatory compliance, asset preservation, sustainability, and operational efficiency, aligned with the brand and corporate standards.

Strategic Leadership
Provide direction and support to property-level Directors of Engineering
Develop and implement strategies that support hotel operations and long-term asset integrity
Align engineering efforts with overall business goals, capital plans, and guest satisfaction objectives and SLIM Engineering instructions
Operational Excellence
Oversee engineering teams across properties to ensure consistent maintenance standards, timely repairs, and efficient energy usage
Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and operational disruptions
Ensure the effective operation and maintenance of all MEP systems, building infrastructure, and life-safety equipment
Evaluate and optimize maintenance KPIs to improve uptime and service quality
Verify Monthly IAF tasks
Compliance and Safety
Ensures all assigned properties adhere to local regulations, fire/life safety codes, environmental laws, and brand standards
Conducts audits and risk assessments to mitigate liabilities
Champion safe work practices and engineering training programs
Capital Planning and Asset Management
Lead long-term asset management and capital expenditure planning across properties
Oversee implementation of capital projects, renovations, and equipment upgrades
Manage regional engineering budgets, forecasting, and cost controls
Sustainability and Cost Efficiency
Drive energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs to reduce operational costs and carbon footprint
Benchmark performance metrics across properties to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Maintain accuracy of energy and water data to ESG external audit standard
Talent Development and Standardization
Coach and develop chief engineers across hotels
Work with HR in new DOEs hiring and assists DOEs on Engineering manning issues
Standardize engineering procedures and provide training across the region to maintain consistent quality
Vendor and Project Management
Work with Regional Procurement to oversee vendor selection, negotiation, and performance management for engineering-related services
Partner with Procurement, leading of area bulk tendering in maintenance service contracts.
Ensure high-quality execution and compliance of external contracts, renovations, and maintenance projects for engineering-related services
We Are Looking for Someone With
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) or related field
Minimum 10~12 years of engineering experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 3~5 years in a multi-property or corporate role
Proven experience in managing large teams, capital projects, and vendor relationships
In-depth knowledge of building systems, energy management, and local regulatory requirements
Good financial acumen and project management skills
