Assistant Director, Religious Content and Guidance

What the role is To provide strategic leadership in developing, reviewing, and ensuring quality religious content and guidance across Singapore's mosque sector, ensuring alignment with direction from the Office of Mufti, the Community Religious Life Steering Committee and local community needs. This role involves establishing baseline and advance religious programs in mosques, supporting mosque leadership in delivering Islamic education and programming and strengthening the Muslim community's spiritual development to achieve the desired outcome of Confident Muslims, Resilient Families and Empowered Community (CoRE). The Assistant Director serves as a reference point for credible religious authority for the mosque sector, working collaboratively with mosque stakeholders to enhance the spiritual and educational impact of mosques as centres of learning and community development, ultimately contributing to MUIS's vision of building a gracious Muslim community of excellence. What you will be working on Religious Content Development and Quality Assurance Develop and review religious curricula, educational materials and programming guidelines for mosques to ensure theological accuracy, relevance and alignment with Islamic principles and local context. Team Leadership and Staff Development Supervise and manage a team of religious officers and curriculum specialists, providing leadership, performance management and professional development to ensure effective delivery of religious guidance services across the mosque sector. Mosque Religious Leadership Support and Capacity Building Provide ongoing guidance, training, and professional development for religious officers and mosque staff to enhance their competencies in delivering effective religious education, spiritual care and community guidance. Strategic Religious Programming and Innovation Lead the development of innovative religious programmes and initiatives that address contemporary community needs while promoting CoRE values and supporting MUIS's strategic objectives for community excellence. Stakeholder Engagement and Religious Advisory Services Serve as a religious advisor to Mosque Management Boards and District Office, facilitating collaborative approaches to address religious queries, resolve theological concerns and enhance mosque effectiveness in serving the community. What we are looking for Tertiary education in Islamic Studies, Theology or related discipline from a recognized institution Advanced qualification (Master's/PhD) in Islamic Studies, Religious Education, or equivalent preferred Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Islamic education, religious leadership or mosque management Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, religious programming, or community guidance Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop diverse teams Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills Experience in change management and organizational development Strong commitment to Islamic values and principles Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and ability to work in diverse environments Adaptable and innovative in addressing contemporary religious challenges Successful candidate will be appointed on contract basis.
