Strategic Procurement/ Purchasing Manager

As the Strategic Purchasing Manager, you will represent the Business Unit APAC by managing procurement activities and developing long-term purchasing strategies to ensure the company obtains the best possible value from its suppliers.
The Strategic Purchaser is also responsible for executing procurement strategies to secure the most cost-effective deals and reduce procurement expenses. This role involves close collaboration with suppliers, internal departments and stakeholders to optimize supply chain efficiency and support the company’s operational and financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Relationship Management:
Identify and establish long-term partnerships with key suppliers
Negotiate terms, prices and contracts with suppliers to achieve optimal pricing and quality
Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement plans as needed
Strategic Sourcing:
Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for certain commodity groups aligned with business goals
Conduct market research to identify trends, new suppliers and alternative materials
Evaluate and select suppliers based on criteria such as cost, quality, reliability, innovation and flexibility.
Cost Management:
Analyze and manage procurement budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness
Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or service levels
Track and report on procurement KPIs, such as cost savings, supplier performance and contract compliance
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
Manage supply chain disruptions and develop contingency plans.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with internal departments (e.g. production, finance, R&D) to understand procurement needs
Communicate procurement strategies and updates to relevant stakeholders
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to drive procurement initiatives
Regular travel within Asia Pacific is required.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strategic thinking and planning
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Knowledge of market trends and supply chain best practices
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or similar
3 + years' experience in strategic purchasing, procurement or supply chain management
Strong negotiation and contract management skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong strategic procurement experience
Experience purchasing e.g. resins, plasticizers, and paper preferred
