The Director of ICT is responsible for all aspects of ICT in the school and leads the development and implementation of the school's ICT strategy. This includes managing ICT systems, infrastructure and support as well as the use of ICT in teaching & learning. In carrying out this role they are expected to:

Leading the School's Digital Strategy:

1. In conjunction with the school's Senior Team, devise, evaluate, refine, and implement the school's digital strategy

2. Ensure that all of the school's adopted systems (including, but not limited to Google Workspace (G-Suite), ISAMS, Firefly, Managebac, etc) are promoted and used effectively throughout the school

3. Oversee, guide, support and direct various systems administrators and managers (ISAMS Manager, Mangebac Administrator, etc)

4. Ensuring that all resource purchases are evaluated and approved to be in line with school policy and strategy

5. Work alongside staff to identify and address the PD needs of staff, highlight excellent practice and promote 'digital champions' to share their expertise.

6. Work with Heads of Department and Curriculum Coordinators to ensure that technology is being used effectively and in line with the school's strategic aims

7. Oversee the development and review of the IT strategy policy

8. Consider frameworks for school-wide assessment of digital strategy and capability (eg. NAACE/ISTE) and implement as appropriate.

9. Initiate and lead a diverse, school-wide digital strategy working party to evaluate the use of education technology and effective integration.

10. Chair regular meetings with academic and support staff to facilitate the digital strategy group and implement the findings, subject to agreement with the Senior Team.

11. Identify new and emerging technologies which are proven to enhance the quality of teaching, learning and assessment.

12. Ensure staff are aware of the school's ICT strategy and its aims, in relation to teaching and learning are communicated effectively.

13. In conjunction with the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead/s, devise, evaluate,refine and implement the school's strategic approach to safeguarding within e-safety.

Supervising the ICT Department:

14. Provide support to the ICT Manager and the ICT department in key tasks, including:

a. Ensuring that the school's appraisal procedures are followed within the department

b. Identify any professional development needs for the ICT department and recommend certifications/qualifications if required

c. Ensuring that communication between the ICT Department and teaching staff is excellent

d. Ensuring that the school's operational and educational systems are set up, managed and maintained effectively

e. Providing necessary support in the development of the school website

f. Management of student and staff email accounts.

g. Ensuring that the school network infrastructure, servers and workstations are operating effectively.

h. Ensuring that the network is operational during access hours and appropriate back-up protocols are implemented.

i. Implementing a regular ICT maintenance programme and procedures to resolve failures in hardware and software.

j. Providing oversight and strategic management of the school's Hardware Systems,

including:

  • Creating and maintaining a school wide ICT hardware audit
  • Develop an asset management system to manage the hardware life cycle, from procurement and redeployment to disposal.
  • Maintaining and configuring servers, storage network and virtualization
  • Maintaining and configuring iMac and iPad for use in classrooms.
  • Maintaining and configuring laptops for staff use and managing the distribution.
  • Maintaining and configuring network printers and MFC devices, setup devices on print server
  • Maintaining and configuring of network devices including access points, wireless controller, backbone and firewall
  • Maintaining and configuring of SMART boards, projectors, sound and video mixers
  • Updating and managing the PABX Telephone System
  • Creating an ICT replacement schedule in agreement with the school's strategic plan and steering committee

k. Providing oversight and strategic management of the school's software, including:

  • Developing and maintaining the school's management information system, admission, system, all reporting and assessment systems and additional requirements including staff training, licensing and maintenance of systems.
  • Resourcing a ticketing system to ensure technical support is recorded, assigned, monitored and delivered in a timely and effective manner.
  • Acquiring or developing a resource/room booking system to ensure equitable access for this school community.
  • Maintaining and configuring server software, (may include; Windows Server, Apple Server Ubuntu, VM Workstation, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Active Directory, Open Directory, DNS, DHCP, Forticlient EMS)
  • Maintaining and configuring workstation operating systems (may include OS X, MacOS, Windows 10)
  • Maintaining and configuring productivity software, (may include Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, G Suite, Office
  • Manage, communicate and maintain print queues, quotas and associated policies
  • Software deployment and management (probably using Meraki MDM, Apple Configurator, Munki, Apple Remote Desktop)

l. Ensuring that the ICT Department comply with all data protection protocol and

regulation:

  • Provide new network and server solutions to meet local and international needs including data protection and security.
  • Develop, implement and monitor school practices for data protection, internet use, e-mail, security and ICT resource management.
  • Work with vendors to ensure their products comply with local and international legislation.

Enrichment

15. Liaise with Curriculum Coordinators and Heads of Department to provide technical

and AV support with internal and community events, as required.

Crisis Management

16. Responsibility for oversight of all network and systems operation within the school

Crisis Management Handbook and specifically:

a. Comply with policies and procedures relating to crisis management, child protection, health, safety, welfare, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting any concerns to the appropriate person.

b. Actively support the school and its policies.

c. Communicate in a timely manner, any planned upgrades/maintenance on the school network to the school community, as appropriate

Budgeting

17. Plan and manage the technology budget as required by the school's Senior team, guiding purchasing decisions and investments, establishing good relationships with suppliers (and potential suppliers), ensuring the school receives competitive quotations.

18. Work with the Senior Team to identify professional development needs and plan for this accordingly.

Additional

19. Stays abreast of new developments in technology by attending technology learning conferences, participating in online educational communities, reading current technology literature, and testing new hardware and software.

20. Write termly reports for the Principal

21. Create an onsite 24hr rota for management and maintenance of all systems to ensure systems are up to date and active even during holiday periods

22. Contribute to the student and staff induction process to ensure new members of the school community are informed of systems, credentials and also receive training, as required

23. Work with the pastoral and digital strategy teams to deliver parental information sessions regarding e-safety and other
