Role Purpose As the Scientific Leader, you will build and lead a team dedicated to pioneering quantum research. Your leadership will advance our understanding and application of quantum technology, contributing to solutions that positively impact society. You will be a key member of our senior scientific leadership team, actively directing the overarching scientific strategy of our organization. Key Responsibilities Establish Research Vision: Define and articulate the research vision, strategic projects, and roadmaps for discovering and developing quantum solutions addressing significant societal challenges. Team Leadership and Development: Manage and inspire a diverse team of researchers and engineers, aligning individual goals with the team’s objectives while fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment. Innovate and Develop: Lead the creation of new quantum algorithms and applications, advancing knowledge in areas such as quantum machine learning, optimization, error correction, and applications in biology, finance, and chemistry. Funding and Collaboration: Identify and pursue research funding opportunities and establish partnerships with funding bodies and academic institutions to support and expand initiatives. Representation and Advocacy: Represent Quantinuum in the scientific community through research outputs, publications, and high-impact technical contributions. Client Engagement and Commercialization: Collaborate with commercial teams to ensure successful client project execution and manage senior stakeholder relationships effectively. Drive Innovation Culture: Promote continuous improvement and staying abreast of emerging trends in quantum research to inform organizational strategy. Must have Extensive Research Leadership: A minimum of 10 years of experience leading scientific research initiatives in academic or industrial settings, with a strong publication portfolio and high citation impact. Advanced Educational Qualifications: A Ph.D. in quantum information, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline. We value Reputation and Influence: Established as a recognized leader in quantum scientific research, equivalent to a professor or senior research director in an academic context. Innovative Development and Scaling: Potential to advance concepts from initial research through to product development and commercial application.
