About The Role:
The Senior Price Reporter, Iron Ore, will be responsible for reporting on the markets for a key steelmaking ingredient as part of a larger team covering ferrous and nonferrous metals markets. The market reporter will gather, test and publish price information on a real-time basis, and obtain an understanding of supply-demand fundamentals from daily interactions with primary market participants. They will also conduct price assessments based on established methodology, contribute to its development, and will write and lead insightful market commentaries, news and analysis pieces. Based in Singapore, the successful candidate will work most closely with team members there, and other locations in Asia, Europe and the Americas as part of a global team.

As the industry evolves toward more sophisticated pricing mechanisms, you will also witness and be reporting at the frontline of these changes.

The candidate will work in an organization with a people-oriented culture and that has a global reach in terms of its coverage and established price assessment methodology. The Metals Pricing team offers exposure to a range of markets like iron ore, steel, ferrous scrap and nonferrous and battery metals, and an in-depth understanding of metallurgical coal and coke. As a market reporter, you will embark on the next steps in becoming an expert and go-to person in the markets you cover.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for reporting on the Asian iron ore markets daily, generate price assessments, commentaries and news stories, working as part of a team. The person will also actively engage with market participants across the region on methodology and market developments, including through in-person and virtual presentations.
The candidate will translate information gathered from the market into written content, and through presentations and other digital media. They will establish and maintain source relationships and take ownership of price reporting and methodology development for their markets, flagging changes to price trends and opportunities internally.
What We're Looking For:
Desire to take ownership of a commodity market in informational and source relationship terms
Tenacity to produce daily content in terms of price assessments, market commentaries and news stories
Strong command of written and spoken English; proficiency of Chinese or other Asian languages a plus
Ability to collaborate with others in a team-oriented, global, multi-cultural environment
Energy, drive and ambition to excel in a fast-paced environment
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
Critical thinking abilities, strong sense of initiative and attention to detail
Conscientious user of Excel
Experience in metals, commodity or financial markets in a reporting or analytical role
