This job description outlines the responsibilities, qualifications, and key areas of focus for the HR Generalist role. The position supports management and employees across the organization, performing general HR activities including HRIS transactions, benefits and leave administration, onboarding, and responding to HR questions in ServiceNow. The HR Generalist maintains up-to-date legal/regulatory knowledge and ensures compliance with company policies and applicable laws. This is an intermediate level, professional HR position, working under minimal supervision and performing assignments in accordance with instructions, policies, training, and accepted HR practices.
Responsibilities
Support HR Business Partners with employee relations, performance review processes, coaching, counseling, and terminations
Liaison for contracted services related to Worker’s Compensation and FMLA
Manage and track employee leave requests due to FMLA, WC, and LOA
Oversee administration of company-sponsored benefit plans
Serve as a resource to management and employees for HR-related items
Support System Specialist with updates in HR systems
Help manage responses to unemployment claims
Maintain background and compliance systems (e.g., Provider Trust, Universal Backgrounds)
Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR department
Assess processes to identify areas for improvement through data analysis, feedback, and observation
Attend in-service trainings and mandatory agency meetings
Perform system and file audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance
Understand and adhere to agency policies and procedures
Maintain current knowledge of employment law and compliance
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field required
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience required; four (4) years preferred
HR Certification preferred
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; ability to learn new software systems/databases
Prior experience with Workday HRIS a plus
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
Aptitude for problem-solving and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
Results-oriented with ability to manage projects and meet tight deadlines
Ability to handle, protect, and use sensitive and confidential data
Collaborative work style and ability to work effectively across departments
