Facility Operation Manager (Data Center) – Singapore

Alibaba Cloud Data Center is a global cloud computing infrastructure offering high-performance, available, and secure cloud services across 30 cloud regions and 89 availability zones through advanced technology and global deployment.

We are looking for a Facility Operations Manager for our Singapore location. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in Data Center operations, along with demonstrated leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to define data center operations and develop Change Management procedures and tools, SOP and EOP for regional collocation DC facilities.
  • Technical leader managing team and consultants to implement data center operations in normal and emergency situations.
  • Technical leader managing the collocation DCs to ensure vendors are adhering to the SLAs per contractual terms.
  • Provide construction administrative support to the project manager during construction. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to assist with new DC projects through schematic design, design development, to construction documents, and commissioning phases.
  • Provide and analyze energy efficient solutions to minimize power losses.
  • Review and develop detailed scripts for Change Management Request (CMR) activities.
  • Travel to data center sites for engineering studies, electrical systems audits, startup testing, and full commissioning, as required.
  • Provide electrical mission critical system review services to the global datacenter engineering teams.
  • Participate in equipment failure or power outage incident root-cause analysis (RCA).
  • Provide instructions to vendors, installation contractors and validate quality of vendor works on site.
  • Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies in regional Alibaba DCs, including traveling to site and providing on-site support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years experience in global large data center facility operations (10+MW) in a team leadership role
  • Deep knowledge of data center mechanical, electrical, fire systems and controls systems
  • Functional knowledge of cloud technologies and architectures, IT service delivery principles and best practices
  • Experience leading a small to medium-sized team
  • Highly driven, self-managed individual with well-developed problem analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of data center construction procedures
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (25% to 50%+ at times)
  • Bilingual in Mandarin as the role will need to coordinate with HQ in China
