This project aims to develop the NIE Science Demonstration Classroom (SDC) project, which integrates Generative AI into science learning to enhance its effectiveness. Science demonstrations play a vital role in teaching and learning by sparking students' interest in scientific phenomena and enhancing their conceptual understanding.
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Officer to lead this initiative. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing science demonstrations and exhibits, co-teaching science demonstration sessions, and managing demonstration materials. The ideal candidate should have a background in science, preferably physics or engineering, and experience working in science classrooms. Additionally, they should possess strong communication, organisational, writing, and proofreading skills, as well as proficiency in using Generative AI and establishing websites.
Responsibilities:
  • Developing science demonstrations and exhibits for teachers and students.
  • Co-teaching science demonstration sessions with instructors.
  • Preparing, purchasing, and managing demonstration materials.
  • Communicating with teachers and students, including website establishment and management.
  • Undertaking other project management tasks as assigned by project team members.

Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree, specialising in science (e.g. physics or engineering).
  • A background in physics and work experience in science classrooms is preferred.
  • Skills in using Generative AI, including developing customised chatbots.
  • Skills in establishing websites.
  • Strong communication, organisational, writing, and proofreading skills.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in English.
  • Proactive and able to work independently.
  • A good team player.
