Butcher Job Description

The butcher plays a key role in the retail environment, responsible for preparing meat and selling it to consumers. This includes cutting, trimming, grinding, and deboning meats according to customers' orders.

Additional responsibilities include roasting meat, preparing hot deli, bento set, weighing, packaging, and pricing the meat. The butcher must maintain safe, clean work areas by cleaning surfaces, equipment, food trays, floors, and removing rubbish.

A key part of this role is displaying safe, quality meat products and delicatessens for consumers' selection. Ensuring all meat products meet quality standards for freshness that comply with company standards is also crucial.

Butchers work closely with customers to provide advice on various cuts and cooking methods, helping to upsell meat products. They monitor inventory levels of meat products and replenish them promptly while handling meat products in accordance with food safety and sanitation procedures.

Our ideal candidate will be a team player who can co-operate with other retail assistants to achieve customer satisfaction. Key requirements include a GCE 'O' Level certificate or NITEC in Culinary Arts, as well as experience as a meat cutter or butcher.
