Overview
What the role is:
You are responsible for enhancing soldiers' physical and combat performance and minimising musculoskeletal injuries.
Responsibilities
Initiate and coordinate research and development (R&D) efforts
Assist with the translation of research findings into practical applications
Adopt new technologies and revise existing training standards, procedures, directives, and policies
Enhance heat resilience in soldiers
Design and develop programmes to physically prepare soldiers for training
Challenge(s) – Enhancing heat resilience in the face of environmental heat stress exacerbated by rapid climate change
Challenge(s) – Preventing musculoskeletal injuries through effective physical preparation programmes
Challenge(s) – Translating research findings into practical, implementable solutions
Qualifications
Education in Exercise Sciences, preferably a Masters in Human Research/Exercise Physiology
At least 6 years of work experience in performance sports
Past experience in heat-related research is advantageous
Intermediate knowledge and understanding of biostatistics
Knowledge of prevalent health and safety legislation
Good communication and time management skills
Ability to mentor or coach a junior scientist
