About the Opportunity – Principal Knowledge Officer
CIG is looking for a Principal Knowledge Officer (PKO) to develop written materials. These materials fall largely into the following broad categories:
Strategy documents: These detail CIG’s perspectives on what “good” government entails and form the intellectual basis for the development of CIG’s products and services.
CIG publications and knowledge products: This could involve writing or editing articles for CIG’s publications, such as Governance Matters or the Chandler Good Governance Index Report. It could also include research and writing of case studies and shorter analytical pieces.
Toolkits and practice guides: CIG assists governments with architecting organisations and building systems and processes. To facilitate this process, CIG develops practical toolkits and guides which government officials can refer to during the implementation process.
Communications materials: These could include CIG’s corporate profile and copy-editing CIG’s websites.
Each of these written products serves different objectives and has different target audiences, thus requiring the PKO to draw on different skillsets in developing the different products. For example, writing articles for CIG’s publications may require the PKO to identify and interview subject matter experts and synthesise the information. Writing CIG’s strategy documents would require the PKO to do independent research on current and historical issues related to governance and public policy.
Experience & Aptitudes
The candidate must

the reader, and with clarity and precision to
inform and persuade .
The candidate should be
intellectually agile , able to conduct independent research into varied topics and issues related to government to provide high-quality written materials.
The candidate should be a mid-career professional with 5-10 years of experience in journalism, focusing on policy and political matters. We will especially look for experience with writing long-form editorial articles that engage and excite while effectively conveying practical and useful information.
It would be ideal for the candidate to have experience in government, in a role involving programme/policy design or implementation. The candidate must communicate in a way that resonates with those who work in government.
The candidate should be a self-starter and thrive in an entrepreneurial working environment, able to take on new and possibly unfamiliar assignments, learn independently, and be resourceful in addressing new challenges that may emerge.
Other Information
CIG adopts a hybrid working arrangement that allows for a mix of in-office work and telecommuting. Ideally, the candidate will be based in Singapore, but we may consider remote working arrangements for exceptional candidates based outside of Singapore.
