Role
Deliver legal analysis and strategic advice to senior management and cross-functional teams on potential legal risks, compliance requirements, and emerging opportunities under applicable laws and regulations.
Advise on commercial and employment law matters, including entity formation, corporate governance, policy adherence, and regulatory compliance.
Ensure all business transactions and operations align with internal policies and standards, as well as relevant local laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks.
Provide case management and legal support for disputes, including arbitration, litigation, and adjudication processes.
Coordinate with the global head office to effectively execute legal functions and align local practices with global legal strategies.
Engage and oversee external legal counsel and advisors, including performance evaluation and cost management.
Monitor and report on regional legal and regulatory developments, identifying potential impacts to the business.
Conduct legal training sessions for employees and project teams, including updates on relevant case law and compliance issues.
Represent the company before administrative bodies and quasi-judicial agencies as required.
Qualifications
Possess a Degree in Law. Qualified to practice law in an Asia Pacific jurisdiction
Minimum 4 - 6 years post-qualification experience in an EPC environment
Familiarity with standard contracts such as FIDIC, PSSCO, REDAS, SIA or PAM
Broad-based knowledge in policies and regulations in the Southeast Asia region.
Familiarity with Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines and/or Indonesia legal framework will be advantageous
Has handled large-scale infrastructure, Building and Plant projects
Experience in Public Private Partnership framework for projects
Well organized, timely in delivery of work and able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
A strong team player with good interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
