Electrical Partial Discharge Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled electrical engineer with expertise in partial discharge testing and licensed electrical worker site work. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical power engineering.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Perform on-site partial discharge testing of high-voltage assets, including switchgear, transformers, and cables. Utilize various PD equipment such as acoustic, thermal, UHF, TEV, and HF sensors. Analyze test data using specialized software and adhere to IEC/IEEE standards.
  • Supervise electrical installation work to ensure regulatory compliance. Read and interpret single-line diagrams. Oversee the installation of low-voltage switchgear, distribution boards, and wiring. Perform switching operations on low-voltage systems. Diagnose basic electrical faults.
  • This role involves 70% field work and 30% work-from-home. Work sites include substations and commercial/industrial facilities. Focus is on safety and compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in PD and/or LEW.
  • Training will be provided for those without experience.
  • Able to work independently and outdoors.
  • Comfortable with hands-on physical tasks and flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to read Python code.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar software.
