Occupational Therapy Specialist

The Senior Occupational Therapist will be responsible for developing and providing rehabilitation care services based on a specific care model to residents of the Nursing Home. The role involves working with residents to achieve optimal independence by improving their ability to perform daily living activities, work, and leisure tasks. This includes conducting functional, physical, cognitive, and psychosocial assessments to understand the residents' rehabilitation needs and setting realistic goals. The successful candidate will also provide training for family members and caregivers on caregiving skills.
Clinical Care
• Assess, evaluate, and identify the rehabilitation needs of residents; formulate and implement individualised occupational therapy programmes to facilitate, restore, or maintain their abilities to perform daily living activities, work, and leisure tasks.
• Evaluate, monitor, and review treatment regularly to document the residents' progress and ensure that treatment is effective.
• Evaluate and prescribe assistive devices to improve function in daily living activities as required by residents.
• Maintain good communication and liaise with various disciplines involved in the rehabilitation process and refer residents to respective professionals for consultation and appropriate intervention.
Training & Development
• Guide, supervise, and train occupational therapy students, therapy assistants, junior staff, caregivers, and volunteers on their performance of duties and implementation of programmes to ensure safe and effective treatment of residents.
• Provide training for caregivers in preparation for residents' discharge back into their home environment.
Administration
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all residents to provide evidence-based treatment with proper documentation.
• Ensure that proper documentation is made for all treatment rendered to residents.
• Perform any other duty assigned by the Rehab Manager or Director of Nursing.
