Nurse Educator Job Description

As a Nurse Educator, you will play a vital role in providing education and evaluation to nursing and patient care staff. Your primary objective will be to facilitate evidenced-based research within a specialized area of nursing, collaborating with medical practitioners to incorporate nursing processes into the plan of care for a specific group of patients.

Direct Specialty Nursing Services

You will provide direct specialty nursing services to an assigned group of patients, adhering to established nursing protocols. Additionally, you will assist patients and caregivers with educational needs, problem resolution, and health management across the continuum of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide educational leadership to patients and care providers to enhance specialized patient care within established healthcare settings.
  • Assist patients and caregivers with educational needs, problem resolution, and health management across the continuum of care.
  • Collaborate with medical providers, patient care staff, and unit management in the planning, implementation, and delivery of educational curricula.
  • Initiate skills development programs within the parameters of established care models; monitor trends and implement educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed as a Nurse Educator, you must possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Nursing; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multi-state privilege to practice compact with New Mexico.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
