Jurong Christian Church (JCC), a congregation of the Lutheran Church in Singapore, is inviting applications for the role of Pastor for Dialect Ministry. We seek a spiritually mature and mission-minded servant-leader who will cast vision, shepherd the congregation and oversee the holistic spiritual development of our members.
Located in the west of Singapore, JCC is a vibrant, multi-generational congregation committed to preaching Christ, building lives and reaching our community with the love of God. Rooted in the Lutheran tradition, we uphold the centrality of Word and Sacramentand are passionate about discipleship, outreach and intergenerational ministry.
JOB SCOPE
Pastoral work in Dialect Ministry overseeing the Lutheran Service of the Word and Sacrament, and providing pastoral ministry for the dialect-speaking members.
Members: About 50-60 members, mostly elderlies, Hokkien speaking.
Ministry teamwork consists of a team of ministry leaders and servers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lutheran Service of the Word and Sacrament including:
· Pulpit ministry. Guest speakers, especially Lutheran ministers, may be invited.
· Schedule of preachers for Sunday Service; Annual ministry programme and budget.
· Oversee and lead Worship Service - Ensure weekly service runs properly with required servers/helpers on duty.
· Weekly worship slides preparation.
· Sunday bulletin update and announcement.
· Offering collection, Baptism and Holy Communion arrangements.
· Safe-keeping of Service offering/tithes collection (in a new safe box).

• Preaching: 1 to 2 times per month.
• Organise fellowship and outdoor physical events for members.
• Organise evangelical events 1-2 times per year.
• Funerals and wakes of members.
• House cleansing, blessing and dedication.
• Training the Ministry Leadership Team E.g., Liturgy, Scripture reading, leading the Cell Groups.
• Visitation, counselling and follow-up - Distribution of Holy Communion to those in special circumstances; administer baptism in an emergency; visitation including members’ homes, hospitals, nursing and eldercare centres.
• Oversee the overall administration of the Dialect Ministry (keeping records of members and visitors, etc)

JOB REQUIREMENTS
a) Education, Certification, Skills and knowledge.
· Preferred a Diploma/Degree in theology or Biblical studies.
b) Experience
· A few years of church ministry experience, preferable with Hokkien speaking congregation.
· Good organising skills, interpersonal, communication skills and able to interact effectively with people at all levels.
· A leader with team-building skills, embracing coaching and counselling knowledge.
· Active member of a church.
c) Competencies
· Conversant in spoken and written Hokkien.
· Ability to empathise with people’s life experiences.
· Ability to cope with inevitable conflicts, hurts, pains and setbacks.
· Good sense of identification, commitment, tact, diplomacy and discretion.
· Sound knowledge and understanding of pastoral and social issues.
