Overview

St Mary\u2019s Primary School in Hastings is looking for an experienced and passionate Leader of Learning and Community. This role encompasses all areas of learning and teaching within our school, working with teachers to drive academic excellence in learning for all members of our community. The school currently consists of 7 classes and approximately 140 students, with a vibrant and warm community of staff and families.

The Leader of Learning and Community holds a pivotal role in ensuring the effectiveness and accountability of the school\u2019s learning and teaching practices. This role requires a strong commitment to collaborative work with the Principal and the Leadership Team, while also having autonomy to take initiative and lead in developing educational strategies. The role demands excellent time management, goal setting, problem-solving, sound judgment, and thoughtful planning within a framework of teamwork and cooperation. The Leader of Learning and Community harnesses available resources to ensure that the school employs evidence-based research to inform and guide all educational practices in line with the Victorian Curriculum. The person in this role stays well-informed about the latest developments in education, collaborating with MACS to implement strategies that support continuous improvement in teaching and learning, so every student has the opportunity to thrive.

This role also fosters a culture of ongoing professional development, supporting staff in enhancing teaching practices and maintaining high standards across the school. It promotes a student-centred approach, ensuring learning experiences meet the diverse needs of all students and help them flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. The role also involves embedding Indigenous perspectives and sustainability practices into learning, to teach the importance of these areas for the future. The Leader of Learning and Community engages with all members of the school community to create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages partnership between the community and the school to support every student to flourish.
