Purpose
The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a fully funded PhD scholarship for international students to pursue doctoral research in Singapore’s top research institutions. It aims to attract the best talent worldwide to undertake research training in cutting edge laboratories across various fields.
Fields of Study
SINGA supports PHD studies in:
Biomedical Sciences
Computing and Information Sciences
Engineering and Technology
Physical Sciences
You will conduct your research at one of four top institutions:
Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR)
Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
National University of Singapore (NUS)
Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)
Scholarship Benefits
The SINGA scholarship is fully funded, covering:
Full tuition fees for 4 years
Monthly stipend:
S$2,200/month
Increased to $2,700/month after passing the qualifying exam
One-time airfare grant: up to $1,500
Settling-in allowance: $1,000 (upon arrival)
Research support and access to world class labs and facilities
Program Format
Duration: Up to 4 years
Start Date: August 2026 (Fall intake)
Students complete coursework, lab rotations, and thesis research under joint supervision of A*STAR scientists and university professors.
Eligibility Criteria
Open to all international applicants
Strong academic results in Bachelor’s and or Master’s degree
Excellent written and spoken English
Good recommendation letters
No requirement for GRE, IELTS, or TOEFL (unless requested by the university)
Application Deadline
Deadline: December 1, 2025
Results: Offers typically sent between March–May 2026
Start of program: August 2026
