News and Current Affairs Video Producer

We are seeking a skilled News and Current Affairs Video Producer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are passionate about creating engaging video content related to news and current affairs.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for pitching, researching, and producing video content that resonates with the Chinese community in Singapore. The role involves scriptwriting, filming, and editing mobile-first videos optimized for social media platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and WeChat.

You will also develop engaging formats such as street interviews, explainer videos, and mini-documentaries/features. Additionally, you will manage and execute the pre and post-production of videos, which includes researching visual and sound content, filming on location, editing videos, creating graphics for web and mobile video content, and archiving footage.

Moreover, you will generate and adapt visual content for different social media platforms and experiment with new formats to boost engagement. You will also manage all video assets and coordinate internal and external stakeholders when necessary.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Degree holders with 3-4 years of experience in journalism and/or film/video production;
  • Intermediate or advanced videography, video editing, and motion graphic skills would be advantageous;
  • Keen interest in news and current affairs, including events in China and other Mandarin-speaking regions;
  • Effectively bilingual in Chinese and English;
  • Deep understanding of Singapore Chinese community's interests, pain points, and culture;
  • Strong research skills and basic understanding of social media analytics;
  • Proficient in mobile filming and editing apps;
  • Competency in Adobe Creative Suite - Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator etc.;
  • Analytical thinker with effective problem-solving skills;
  • Able to adapt quickly to different and fast-paced work environments;
  • Able to work independently and as a team player;
  • Able to work irregular hours and within tight time constraints.
