Overview Scientist II (Inflammation and Immunology (I&I) Discovery), EDDC at A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research. Experimental Drug Development Centre (EDDC) is dedicated to discovering and developing novel therapeutics through collaboration with public sector institutions and industry partners. The team uses AI and data-driven strategies to improve program success and initiates projects that leverage patient-derived datasets to strengthen target confidence. This role sits in the I&I discovery group and contributes to preclinical drug development from target exploration to drug candidate selection within the I&I therapeutic space. Responsibilities Develop experimental protocols and perform mammalian cell culture, biochemical, biophysical, and cellular assays (e.g., Western blotting, flow cytometry, thermal shift assays, plate-based assays with fluorescence or luminescence) for target validation and functional characterization of small/large molecule therapeutics. Support laboratory operations including housekeeping, safety checks, SOP writing, and other administrative or compliance-related tasks. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, provide technical support to ongoing projects, participate in lab meetings, and assist in preparing materials for presentations and reports. Analyze and present experimental data clearly, with understanding of its implications for drug discovery. Qualifications Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline. Experience: minimum 8 years (B.Sc) or minimum 5 years lab experience (M.Sc). Extensive experience with primary human PBMCs and/or immune cells. Knowledge of development and validation of biological assays. Attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver results within timelines. Strong written and oral communication skills with meticulous record-keeping for laboratory documentation. Strong interpersonal and collaborative spirit; candidate with industry experience is preferable.
