Goal of PositionThe incumbent is responsible for leading and overseeing the Legal function and corporate governance for Schaeffler's legal entities across the Asia Pacific region. The role ensures compliance with applicable commercial and legislative laws, minimizes legal and financial risks through effective management of external law firms, provides legal advice to business stakeholders, and maintains accurate corporate legal records and governance processes.Key Responsibilities Lead the APAC legal function and act as the primary interface with the global legal team and headquarters, ensuring alignment of global policies with regional execution Oversee, draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial and inter-company contracts Own regional legal governance across multiple jurisdictions, including Board documentation, entity management, and statutory compliance, and implement group-wide governance frameworks and controls Manager Powers of Attorney, ensuring appropriate delegations, monitoring, and internal controls across business units and jurisdictions Provide strategic legal counsel to regional leadership on complex and high-value transactions, with clear legal risk assessments and mitigation strategies Liaise with regulators and government agencies on legal matters; coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries and manage licensing/filings Oversee and coordinate disputes and litigation across the region Lead rollout and/or deliver legal and compliance trainings Supervise and manage relationships with external law firms to ensure cost-effective and high-quality legal support Maintain close cooperation with the global legal community and contribute to global projects and process harmonization Key Requirements Possesses a Postgraduate degree in Law (LL.M). Specialization in contract, corporate, or competition law is an advantage At least 15 years of post-qualification experience in a multinational in-house legal team in industrial manufacturing industry, with significant cross-border exposure At least 8 years of leadership experience, managing and leading a legal function/team in a dynamic and matrixed environment Deep expertise in commercial contract law, including complex high-value agreements and international contracting; strong drafting and negotiation skills Demonstrated experience in competition/antitrust (anti-cartel) advisory Strong business acumen and the ability to translate legal risk into clear, practical options for executives and operational teams Track record managing disputes/litigation portfolios Skilled stakeholder management across cultures and time zones
