As a Senior Manager/Manager in the Non-Motor Underwriting Department at our Head Office in Mumbai, you will play a crucial role in leading and profitably managing the Specialty Lines portfolio. This portfolio includes products such as Surety Bond Insurance, Trade Credit Insurance, and other related commercial lines. Your responsibilities will extend beyond core underwriting to strategic portfolio management, process optimization, and ensuring regulatory compliance. An ideal candidate for this role would possess a strong finance background to effectively assess contractor risk and capacity.Your key responsibilities will include driving growth in the specialty lines segment by supporting business stakeholders and exploring new opportunities. You will be tasked with developing and implementing underwriting practices that enhance the profitability of the portfolio. Monitoring, analyzing, and managing the performance of the specialty lines portfolio across various metrics will be essential. Ensuring adherence to all regulatory, statutory, and board-mandated underwriting guidelines and frameworks is a critical aspect of this role. You will also be responsible for improving and streamlining underwriting workflows, documentation processes, and operational efficiency. Additionally, mentoring and supporting the professional development of team members through training and knowledge-sharing will be part of your duties.To qualify for this position, you should hold a post-graduate degree in any discipline. An undergraduate degree in Finance or qualifications as a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) are preferred. Fellowship or Associateship from the Insurance Institute of India is mandatory. You should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting, with at least 2 years specifically handling Surety Bond Insurance.Behavioral competencies such as being focused, organized, result-driven, proactive, accountable, and having strong decision-making skills are essential for success in this role. Adaptability, people empowerment, teamwork, openness & inclusion are also valued qualities. Strong technical expertise in Surety Bond Insurance underwriting, portfolio analysis, risk assessment, excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to evaluate the financial strength of contractors and corporate clients are crucial functional skills required for this position.This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule and a performance bonus.
