This role bridges scientific research, R&D formulation, and customer understanding combining nutritional science with real‐world insights from pet owners. In the first year, the Nutritionist will also handle selected customer servicing duties to help refine and train our Nutrition BOM BOT AI system. By understanding customer questions, feedback, and dietary concerns, this person will help us continuously improve the AI's accuracy and learning model. Responsibilities Research & Product Development Lead formulation development of new pet food products, ensuring nutritional balance, palatability, and compliance with established standards (NFC, AAFCO, FEDIAF, AVA, etc.). Collaborate with Procurement and Operations teams to source, test, and validate ingredients based on nutritional quality and bioavailability. Conduct R&D studies on dietary performance, ingredient efficacy, and alternative protein sources Drive forensic nutritional analysis of products and competitor benchmarks. Partner with external laboratories to conduct assays, ensure data accuracy, and maintain robust research documentation. Convert R&D insights into product improvements and contribute to marketing content on nutrition. Customer & AI Development Handle and analyse customer queries and feedback to understand common nutrition issues. Translate customer insights into AI training data to enhance Nutrition BOM BOT's learning accuracy. Develop knowledge‐base materials and FAQs for automation, reducing manual response volume over time. Provide technical support for complex or specialised nutrition issues not covered by the AI system Gradually transition from customer‐servicing focus to a predominantly R&D‐oriented role Technical Analysis & Quality Assurance Perform nutrient composition analysis and validate results across production batches. Develop and maintain nutritional specifications and formulation databases. Monitor market trends and conduct scientific literature reviews to identify emerging nutrition opportunities. Cross‐Functional Collaboration Support Marketing, Operations, and Quality teams on product claim substantiation, labelling, and compliance. Provide internal training or technical updates on pet nutrition topics. Requirements Degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Nutrition, or related field In‐depth understanding of small companion animal anatomy, particularly digestive physiology Strong foundation in micronutrients and ingredient functionality Experience in R&D, food formulation, or pet food manufacturing preferred Familiarity with NRC, AAFCO, and FEDIAF nutritional standards Proficiency in data analysis, Microsoft Excel, and technical writing Strong analytical mindset with attention to scientific accuracy and detail Curious, innovative, and unafraid to challenge conventional nutrition norms Must be a pet owner and genuinely passionate about pet health and nutrition.
