Job Description:
Strong experience in
Cards & Payments domain
Hands-on expertise in
PostgreSQL database setup and maintenance
Familiarity with
high availability and disaster recovery configurations
Experience supporting
Tier-1 applications
with defined RTOs
Responsibilities
Performs routine maintenance: backups, patching, performance tuning.
Monitors replication health, query performance, and disk usage.
Handles incident response and troubleshooting.
Install PostgreSQL database in cluster mode and DBA-related task/maintenance activities as part of one-time activity during the project phase.
Post project, to support PostgreSQL related DB maintenance activities for 1 year.
a) Postgres SQL DB – Initial Setup
Installation of Postgres (version 16.4 or higher) to the servers (RHEL 9.x) for 5 countries (separate set of servers for each country). Below is the number of servers for one country
DB instance, tablespace, schema id, roles, and etc creation and maintenance
DB instance user/group creation
Setup replication from primary node to secondary node, on each site (High Availability jobs)
Setup replication from primary sites to DR sites (Disaster Recovery jobs)
DB backup and restoration (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly)
DB maintenance Jobs scripts (Housekeep DB logs, Reorg indexes, Analyze DB and etc)
Debugging reports like AWR
Other Postgres related DBA activities.
Prepare detailed documentations (design and approach, technical specifications, SOP documents) for each of the above steps
This is a tier 1 application. RTO is 4 hours. Provide helpdesk support whenever there is incidents.
Provide support and guidance on Postgres patch installation for updates/security patch and vulnerability fixes.
Performance troubleshooting based on AWR reports
DB backup and restoration (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly)
DB maintenance Jobs scripts (Housekeep DB logs, Reorg indexes, Analyze DB and etc)
Provide support during Disaster Recovery, both planned and adhoc
Other Postgres related DBA activities.
