Key Data Centre Management Position

About the Role:

  • Responsible for overseeing all operations aspects of a data centre.
  • Participate in business activities related to the data centre.
  • Lead a team of DC engineers, including planning, scheduling, monitoring, task assignment, and controlling outcomes.

Important Considerations:

  • Be prepared to work on standby during emergencies that may require immediate attention.

Main Responsibilities:

Team Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Director of Data Centre Services to set Key Achievement Areas (KAA) for the DC team.
  • Regularly assess training needs for the DC team based on their competencies.
  • Conduct performance reviews for team members.
  • Monitor and follow up on assigned tasks and results.
  • Organise team-building activities to enhance team cohesion.
  • Motivate the team to deliver exceptional results that exceed customer expectations.

Customer Relations

  • Attend meetings related to data centre businesses.
  • Prepare incident reports, exercise reports, and other relevant documents.
  • Schedule data centre activities, such as exercises, maintenance, training, provisioning, and decommissioning.
  • Manage complaints and data centre incidents effectively.
  • Work closely with the team to resolve complex problem cases and ensure timely solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for service delivery and escalation points.

Process Management and Control

  • Implement, maintain, control workflows and processes within the data centre.
  • Ensure data centre facilities are well-maintained and ready for customer visits or audits.
  • Manage vendors, including scheduling appointments for surveys, maintenance, and discussions.
  • Review system logs, access control systems, and CCTV recordings according to scheduled dates or time frames.
  • Guarantee operational compliance with certification guidelines and address any identified gaps.
  • Implement Service Quality Management, including Resource Capacity Management.
  • Enforce strict physical and logical security controls in the data centre, adhering to data centre policies and procedures.

Other General Operations Duties

  • Establish and maintain proper documentation and procedures for data centre operations.

Requirements:

  • Hold a diploma or degree qualification.
  • Have 3 years of experience managing a data centre.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Effectively prioritise and execute tasks in high-pressure situations.
  • Display strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, including influencing and communicating with various stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills.
  • Be capable of learning, understanding, and applying new technologies.
