Job Summary:
The Port Operations Officer handles day-to-day tasks related to vessel berthing, cargo handling, and ensuring smooth operations.
The Port Operation Executive is responsible to overseeing the operations activities and ensure smooth and efficient port operations, and working with various stakeholders (shipping lines, external service providers, regulatory bodies, etc.), and ensure compliance with regulations.
Job Responsibilities for Port Operations Officer:
  • Preparing vessels for berthing, coordinating cargo loading and unloading.
  • Managing equipment movement and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Responsible for ensuring the correct equipment is available for a specific vessel's needs.
  • Coordinating with stevedores for cargo handling and reporting any issues to supervisors.
Location:
Can be found in various locations within the port, including onboard vessels and in the port's operational areas.
Job Responsibilities for Port Operation Executive:
  • Planning vessel berthing schedules, coordinating with customs and immigration for vessel clearances, and resolving operational issues that arise.
  • Liaison with port management/ surveyor/ stevedore/ ship agent.
  • Monitor loading and unloading of cargo to ensure compliance with schedules and safety standards.
  • Ensure all documentation (bills of lading, customs clearance, etc) are processed accurately.
  • Prepare reports to the management on port performance.
  • Support emergency response plans and environmental protection procedures.
  • Ad-hoc assignments by the management.
Location:
Works within the port's operational departments, often in supervisory or managerial roles.
Job Requirements:
  • Possess a Diploma in Supply Chain Management/ Logistics Management/ Maritime Studies or related disciplines.
  • Min. 2 to 5 years relevant working experience in port operations.
  • Knowledge of cargo handling and port safety procedures and standards.
  • Proficiency in port management software.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, and multitasking.
  • Able to work under high-pressure, and fast-paced working environment.
  • Willingness to work on overtime/ weekends/ holidays if required.
